Honey...Take the Edge Off and Relax!

Love In A Cup

In times of stress and uncertainty it can be hard to relax....We have no control over the outside things that happen in our world. Or to narrow it down, sometimes we have no control over the outside things that happen in our own personal lives.

That can be difficult at times to navigate. We see the impacts of stress and how it effect us in different ways. The results of stress can effect us through our bodies physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. Having a way to deal with the stress in a positive, healthy and natural way can be very helpful and essential.

I love herbal teas, because not only are they natural and good for the body during times of stress by giving your body the nutrients it needs, but it also assists and allows you to adapt to stress by taking the edge off when your emotions and spirit feel chaotic.

Herbal teas are a popular drink of choice when it comes to relaxing and unwinding. They have forever been used around the world to aid in natural sleep remedies and also used as natural remedies to reduce anxiety.

Here are a few herbal teas to keep in mind when experiencing challenges that stress you out...

  1.  Chamomile- For years chamomile tea has been used to as a natural remedy to reduce inflammation and anxiety and treat insomnia. It is regarded as a mild tranquilizer or sleep inducer. It's soothing and calming effects may be related to an antioxidant called "apigenin", which is found in chamomile tea. Apigenin connects to certain receptors in your brain that may decrease anxiety and encourage sleep.
  2. Valerian Root- Valerian is an herb that has been used for decades to assist with challenges due to insomnia, nervousness and headaches. Today, Valerian root is one of the most well known herbal sleep aids here in the United States. Research is still not entirely confident how the herb actually works to help with sleep. However, one thought in research is that it increases levels of neurotransmitter called gammaaminobutyric acid that when presented in abundant levels, it may increase sleepiness.  Drinking valerian root tea may help improve sleep quality without challenging side effects.
  3. Lavender- Lavender is often known as the aromatic and soothing herb. In ancient times the Romans and Greeks would regularly add lavender to their baths and breathe in the soothing and calming fragrance. Lavender tea is made from the small purple buds of the flowering plant. Many people enjoy lavender tea because it settles the nerves and also aids with sleep.
  4. Lemon Balm- Lemon balm belongs to the mint family. It is often sold in extract form as an essential oil and used for aromatherapy purposes, however the lemon balm leaves are dried and used to make tea. This citrus- scented herb has been used to reduce stress and improve sleep.

There are so many more herbs that are considered functional that can be used in teas and aid with so many areas such as stress, anxiety and insomnia. While results can vary from person to person, herbal teas are worth a shot, especially for those of us looking for natural and healthier ways to cope and navigate through the challenges in life.

Be safe and healthy.....

Sending Love Wherever It's Needed
